A bit of history about the club

Chicago White Sox are one of the eight charter franchises in the American League. In 1901, it was first established as a major league baseball club. Originally, the club was called Chicago White Stockings, however, this was made shorter, which is how the Chicago White Sox came about. The club won the World Series in 1906, with a team that was dubbed "the Hitless Wonders." They then followed this up by winning in 1917 and again in 1919. However, the latter season was marred because a number of different members of the team were accused of fixing games by conspiring with gamblers, which is famously known as the Black Sox Scandal.

In 2005, the Chicago White Sox won the AL pennant. They then went on to win the World Series. MVP Jermaine Dye led the team to this success. Dye retired in 2011. He was known for his powerful throwing arm and ability to hit with immense power. During his career, he played 1763 games. There are currently 12 jersey numbers that have been retired by the Chicago White Sox. 11 of these were worn by former White Sox. One of the most recent was the number 56 in the honour of Mark Buehrle.
