Brian Fallon's bio
From Red Bank in New Jersey, Fallon grew up in a musical family. His mother had been in a 1960s folk band called the Group Folk Singers. The family relocated to Hackettstown in the same state, where the young musician attended high school and began experimenting with his own compositions. Aged 17, he put out his first unofficial release, a cassette called The Coffeehouse, under the pseudonym No Release.
In 2004, after having played with a few local bands, Fallon put together a solo EP that was made with a group of friends acting as session musicians. The work, entitled The American Music EP, also featured the vocal talents of Fallon’s mother. Later that year, Fallon would form This Charming Man, a band named after a song by The Smiths. It would ultimately go on to become The Gaslight Anthem, the group with which Fallon would go on to write and record five studio albums, to date. The band went on a prolonged hiatus in 2015, following a long European tour that included a memorable performance at the Reading Festival.
Painkillers was Fallon’s first major release as a solo act. Made available to the public in 2016 by Island Records, the LP ventured into heartland rock as well as the performer’s signature alternative rock sound. “A Wonderful Life” was chosen to be a single from the album and was released in December of that year. The work got to number 13 in the UK Album Charts and was a hit in the US, Germany, Canada and Austria. Georgia, a three-track, 10-inch EP, was released by Fallon in 2015. By 2017, the artist had announced his intention to put out a new record in 2018; a work given the name of Sleepwalkers. Studio work on the album commenced in 2017, with work taking place in Los Angeles and New Orleans. “Forget Me Not” was released as a single to promote the LP.
