Blue Biography - Return of the Bestselling British Boyband
This successful English group formed in 2000, when wannabe singers Antony Costa and Lee Ryan met at an audition for a boy band on ITV's This Morning organised by music mogul Simon Cowell. Although Ryan was chosen and Costa was vetoed, the boys stayed in touch and later decided to form their own outfit alongside Duncan James and Ryan's flatmate, professional footballer Simon Webbe. At the time, the international charts were saturated by sugary pop and Blue injected their sound with a cool RandB edge to stand out in the crowd. Their debut single 'All Rise' soared to number four and catalysed a period of chart dominance, with infectious tracks like 'Too Close' and 'If You Come Back' becoming some of the biggest mainstream hits of the decade.
Their popularity gave way high profile collaborations with Stevie Wonder and Elton John for the chart-topping single 'Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word'. In just a few short years, the boys enjoyed a huge amount of success that most young musicians can merely dream of but by 2005 their bubble had burst as indie rock became the sound du jour. The band split harmoniously but high public demand led to several reunion tours, including one in 2009 and a high profile comeback on the ITV show The Big Reunion in 2013. They've delighted their ardent fan base by announcing news of a new album and a string of live performances in spring 2015.
