Alexandre Theatre is a theatre in Birmingham on Suffolk Queensway. The theatre was opened in 1901, originally known as the Lyceum, and it underwent restoration in 1935 as the auditorium was redone in a fine art deco style. The Alex, as it is often fondly referred to by its patrons, has a capacity of 1,347 and is a fantastic venue for all sorts of entertainment, including theatre, comedy and performing arts. Now Known as The Alexandra

In 2018, the theatre was again refurbished as it changed management in the process being renamed The Alexandra. The £650,000 refurbishment was shown off to the viewing public with a showing of Motown the Musical. The theatre has played host to some of the biggest names in UK comedy recently, including Sean Walsh, Eddie Izzard and Micky Flanagan. Returning to its roots, the theatre has featured popular productions such as West Side Story, Copacabana and Great Expectations. 

Ghostly apparitions at The Alexandra

                                                                The theatre has drawn attention for its various spooky visions during its history. Leon Salburg, the theatre owner in 1938, died in his office in the theatre and his ghost is said to haunt the venue to this day. There were also reports of a ghostly figure sighted in 1987, of a cleaning lady dressed in grey.
