Wolf Alice: north London rockers to play 12 UK dates in November 2017, including huge concert at Alexandra Palace
Weaving together a mix of electro, folk and post-grunge rock, alternative four-piece Wolf Alice inject real personality into their music with their fierce and innovative sound. Taking their name from an Angela Carter story, the British band are influenced by decades of guitar bands, including Nirvana, Metallica and Primal Scream, while they have also toured as a support act for The 1975.
The band set the bar high with their 2015 debut album My Love Is Cool – which was both a commercial and critical success – but 2017's Visions of a Life surpassed even their own high standards as it received almost universal rave reviews from industry critics. To celebrate their success, Wolf Alice will tour the UK in November 2017; with 12 gigs up and down the country.
The band will call at: Bristol; Manchester; Glasgow; Newcastle; Nottingham; Birmingham; Leeds; Southampton; Brighton; Belfast; Dublin and London – with a massive show at Alexandra Palace on 24 November. Wolf Alice: critically acclaimed foursome going from strength to strength
Formed in 2010, singer Ellie Roswell and guitarist Joff Oddie started as a folk act, but when Theo Ellis and Joel Amey joined on bass and drums respectively, they soon started to develop a new sound; with gritty heavy rock tones coming to the foreground. Their self-released, eponymous 2012 EP quickly gained attention on the UK airwaves and the band capitalised on the air-time by releasing standalone track "Leaving You" later the same year.
"Leaving You" won airplay on Radio 1, and Wolf Alice signed a contract with Chess Club records soon after, bringing out the Blush EP in 2013. In December of that year they were chosen as the single most blogged about artist in 2013 by BBC Radio 6 Music and by 2014, they'd moved to Dirty Hit Records, releasing another EP titled Creature Songs midway through the year. Buoyed by the success of the song "Moaning Lisa Smile", the record was a hit on both sides of the Atlantic.
At the 2014 UK Festival Awards, Wolf Alice were awarded the gong for Best Breakthrough Artist and in June 2015 their debut album My Love is Cool was finally released. Singles "Giant Peach", "Bros" and "You're a Germ" illustrated the band's wide-ranging sound, and they embarked on a massive US tour with peers The 1975 soon after.
In June 2017, Wolf Alice released the lead single "Yuk Foo" from their upcoming second studio album Visions of a Life. The album was released to universal acclaim from critics in September 2017. They released the second single from the album "Don't Delete the Kisses" the following month, and have announced a UK-wide tour for November 2017.
