The Charlatans: Tim Burgess' brigade back on tour in 2018
Having been part of the seminal UK baggy indie scene of the 1990s, The Charlatans are one of the UK's best-loved live acts. With 13 albums of material spanning almost three decades, they've got more hits in their arsenal than they now what to do with, and have no trouble in consistently delighting their army of fans.
To celebrate 2017 album Different Days The Charlatans are back out on tour in 2017, with 11 dates announced up and down the UK, and tickets are available here at StubHub.
The Charlatans: return of the baggy boys
Before they earned their reputation as UK baggy indie legends, The Charlatans were formed in the West Midlands in 1988 by bassist Martin Blunt, keyboard player Rob Collins, drummer Jon Brookes and singer Baz Ketley, who was later replaced by Tim Burgess and guitarist Jon Day.
After their debut single "Indian Rope" proved an indie hit, they released their calling card song "The Only One I Know", which was a top ten smash. Debut album Some Friendly was a success, but 1994 third album Up To Our Hips made the group stars. Their self-titled follow-up, meanwhile, confirmed them as modern legends, going to the top spot and laying foundations for 1997's Tellin' Stories, which featured the single "North Country Boy".
The band enjoyed decent success in the noughties, but suffered a setback with the tragic early death of drummer Brookes in 2013. Choosing to honour him by carrying on, they released 12th studio album Modern Nature in 2015 and 13th effort Different Days in 2017.
