SBV Excelsior Tickets
SBV Excelsior - aiming to climb
The 2017/18 Eredivisie season brought an 11th place finish for the club. They fell short of the final European playoff entrant SC Heerenveen by six points, but it was still a four-place improvement on the previous two seasons. Regardless, there is plenty of room for improvement, and more people than ever are opting to buy and sell SBV Excelsior tickets on StubHub.
Eredivisie football - unforgiving but not impossible
Excelsior's top goal scorer in 2017/18 was Mike van Duinen. He departed from the club in the summer of 2018, with Denis Mahmudov replacing him. In the pre-season of 2018/19 Mahmudov scored twice, indicating that the loss of van Duinen may not be as painful as feared. In total, five free transfers have made their way to the Van Donge & De Roo Stadion in Woudestein. With another newcomer (defender Robin van der Meer) set to play behind Mahmudov, the left flank has been totally reinvented and could provide the element of surprise that boosts sales of SBV Excelsior tickets. The team captain for 2018/19 was named Ryan Koolwijk, an imposing 1.93-metre-tall central midfielder. At the age of 33, he is highly experienced and cultured in the rigours of Eredivisie Dutch League football, having begun his professional career at Excelsior in 2007 before moving to N.E.C. in 2011. With a mixture of tall and powerful players alongside the short and nimble, Excelsior has every opportunity to put 2017/18 behind them and become a consistent top half club in the ruthless spectacle that is Eredivisie football.
SBV Excelsior: a pioneer club
Founded in 1902, SBV Excelsior is one of the oldest professional clubs in Holland considered to have "working class" roots. Within three decades of forming, the club reached its first domestic cup final and, in the immediate aftermath of the Second World War, reached the top flight for the first time. 1954 brought the introduction of professional football to Holland, but what the younger generations may not know is that Excelsior's emphasis on creativity in play was a major influence on its ratification by Dutch football authorities. Between 1979 and 2008, Excelsior was a feeder club for the more successful Feyenoord, but with the club continuing to grow after a period of financial unrest in the 1990s, this partnership was discontinued. Two years after the discontinuation, Excelsior rose to the top tier, only to go down in 2012, and then up again in 2014. The club has since held its own, giving fans every reason to continue buying SBV Excelsior tickets on StubHub.
