Live Music at Electric Ballroom - Embracing Spontaneity

A regular stop off for the great and the good of the music world over its 70 year history, down the years it has played host to some very famous acts, including the likes of The Clash, The Smiths and U2. However, the building has also seen its fair share of drama during its long and storied history. After the Camden Town Tube bombing in 1941, the venue - originally known as the Buffalo Club - found itself missing its back wall as well as part of the side street. However, owner Bill Fuller saw this as an opportunity for expansion and converted it into a ballroom for 2,000 people.

Its club nights are also perennially popular - during one memorable night at the height of Britpop, Oasis' Gallagher brothers stepped up on stage to play a spur of the moment collaboration with headlining band Ocean Colour Scene. Despite the growing sales of Electric Ballroom tickets, the live music hub faced further threats throughout the middle of the '00s when government plans to expand the local tube station proposed demolishing the building. Fortunately patrons of the venue, including famous faces Bob Geldof and Graham Coxon, successfully fought to save it.
