Disturbed Biography - Two Decades Of Disturbed
Formed in 1994 by vocalist Erich Awalt, guitarist Dan Donegan, drummer Mike Wengren and bassist Steve "Fuzz" Kmak under the original name of Brawl, the arrival of current singer David Draiman in 1996 brought about a name change. Inspired by giants of the genre such as Black Sabbath, Metallica and Pantera, the band's sound is pure hard rock with a dash of heavy metal. The newly renamed band released two demo tapes, and the first featured 'Down with the Sickness', which has been their signature song ever since.
Their debut album The Sickness was the first to feature Disturbed's mascot, The Guy, and it peaked at number 20 on the Billboard 200, selling 4 million copies in the US alone. Thanks to their commercial success, the group has supported bands like Slipknot or Mastodon, and headlined festivals Mayhem, Download and Ozzfest. All five of their subsequent albums hit number one in the US album charts, including 2016 LP Immortalized.
