2018/19 marked only the second Premier League season for the South Wales club. Neil Warnock largely stayed true to the side that reached the top flight, yet there were several significant additions in the attacking department, all of whom had the potential to get the goals needed to establish Cardiff in the top tier. Two men arrived for eight figures over the summer of 2018: left-winger Josh Murphy and attacking midfielder Bobby Reid. The side immediately gained promotion and also reached F.A Cup final in 1925 and 1927. The post-war years were less kind to Cardiff. The 1960s heralded a relegation and a subsequent top-flight absence of five decades, and the club finally hit the bottom tier in 1986. The clubs fortune changed in the year 2000, with Sam Hammam being the first of several men to buy out the club in the 21st century. With more resources, Cardiff climbed the Football League, appearing in the 2008 F.A Cup final, and - at long last - reached the top tier in 2013.
