Hozier Biography - 'Take Me to Church' Star
Born in Bray, County Wicklow, Andrew Hozier-Byrne was inspired by his father, a blues musician, and surrounded by music that would influence his own material from an early age. Whilst studying music at Trinity College, Dublin, he began recording demos for Universal Music and sang with the Trinity Orchestra. On releasing his own EP in 2013, the title track 'Take Me to Church' went viral on YouTube and by October of the same year had reached the number two spot in the UK charts. Other soon to be popular hits included were 'Like Real People Do' and a live version of 'Cherry Wine'.
A second EP followed. From Eden contained the title track, along with 'Work Song' and 'Arsonist's Lullabye' and led to the singer appearing at a number of festivals and making TV appearances throughout the year. Finally in September 2014, fans were treated to a fully formed album, the self-titled Hozier. An instant chart hit, the lead single 'Take Me to Church' was even nominated for Song of the Year at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. See this rising star by grabbing your Hozier tickets on StubHub.
