Del Amitri Biography - World-Beating Anthems

Though they've gone through numerous line-up changes over the years, the core of the group has always been built around frontman Justin Currie and guitarist Iain Harvey, who first formed a band in the early '80s in Glasgow. Cutting their teeth on the local live scene, they earned their break when influential radio DJ John Peel played their material on air, leading to the release of their self-titled debut album in 1985. After a move to A&M Records they crashed the Top 10 with their platinum-selling follow-up Waking Hours in 1989, hitting Number Two with their third effort Change Everything in 1992. Propelled by spots on late night US television they played a notable set at Woodstock '94, leading to their biggest US chart success with 1995 single 'Roll to Me'. Meanwhile, the group enjoyed further international stardom when they were picked to record Scotland's official anthem for the 1998 football World Cup, titled 'Don't Come Home Too Soon'.

After putting out their final album in 2002, Can You Do Me Good?, confusion surrounded the status of the group, who neither fully confirmed or denied they'd split.
