A fiery mix of electronica and industrial
Founded in 2003 by Norwegian vocalist Andy LaPlegua, also the frontman of futurepop outfit Icon of Coil, Combichrist released their debut album, ‘The Joy of Gunz', later that same year. The Atlanta-based group soon became one of the leading purveyors of aggrotech, a sound that incorporated elements of both electronic and industrial music to powerful effect. After signing with US label Metropolis, LaPlegua and his ever-rotating cast of musicians released 2006 sophomore ‘Everybody Hates You', went on to score a Billboard dance hit with ‘Get Your Body Beat' and land supporting slots with the likes of Mindless Self Indulgence, Rammstein and Black Light Burns. Combichrist then provided the soundtrack to video game ‘Devil May Cry', contributed music to gothic horror sequel ‘Underworld: Rise of the Lycans', and added to their back catalogue with the albums ‘Today We Are All Demons', ‘Making Monsters', and ‘We Love You'. Produced by Filter's Oumi Kapila, eighth studio effort ‘This Is Where Death Begins' arrived in 2017, with follow-up ‘One Fire' hitting the shelves two years later. Get Your Body Beat
Expect plenty of mosh pit action when Combichrist come to town. The Norwegian-American outfit have built a reputation for being one of the industrial electro scene's most energetic, exuberant, and chaotic live bands. As well as commanding the audience to jump up and down in unison, the group are also known for lifting their instruments above their heads, leaping around the stage, and diving into the adoring crowd. If any more proof were needed that the band doesn't take themselves too seriously, then its members are also prone to sporting face paint and wearing fancy dress while performing on stage. Alongside the general sense of organised chaos, the rockers' show typically spans the majority of the band's career, with particular setlist favourites including ‘Blut Royale', ‘Throat Full of Glass', and their breakout hit ‘Get Your Body Beat'.
