Bonobo Biography - Join in with some Live Monkey Business

Born Simon Green in 1976 in Brighton, this producer/DJ used to perform under the name Barakas and as Nirobi and Barakas alongside Robert Luis of Tru Thoughts fame. His reinvention came in 1999 with his underground smash song 'Terrapin', which was followed by his debut album under the name, Animal Magic, in 2000. It earned him a reputation as a modern pioneer of downtempo music, then in 2001 he was signed to the lauded Ninja Tune label. His first album proper for them was 2005's Dial 'M' for Monkey, which was followed by 2006's Days to Come. His star on the ascent, 2010's Black Sands made him one of the most critically-acclaimed underground dance acts in the UK and a regular festival and gig fixture. Most recently he's been focusing on his live work, releasing The North Borders Tour - Live DVD and album, recorded on the road.
