A History of Success for the Waterloo Black Hawks

The Waterloo Black Hawks made a name in the sporting industry as a semi-professional team when they started playing in 1962. It wasn’t long before the insatiable team started raking in titles; winning the United States Hockey League championship from 1964 to 1968, consecutively. After earning these league titles the team switched over to participate in the junior hockey league. They went on to win the Southern Division title in 1980. Between 1980 and 1991, the team endured a staggering total of eight head coach changes, which seemed to have delayed their winning streak until 1993. During the 1993–1994 season, the Waterloo Black Hawks won an impressive total of twenty games. A few years later, in 2002, the team won their first division championship. The team finished behind the Lincoln Stars by only two points in the renowned Anderson Cup race, and during the next season, they earned their first United States Hockey League Clark Cup championship win, as well as their first league title in history.
