Tina Dico: for the love of music

Tina Dico received her musical calling early on in her life, but things were not always straightforward. After performing in a number of cover bands while at high school, she featured on Danish TV show "Karrusel", which aired in 1998. However, she found that subsequent offers were typecasting her and taking her further from her artistic vision. After persuading the members of her cover band, Fester Kester, to perform a song she had written, Tina Dico was launched into the public consciousness after winning a number of national talent competitions. Record labels were soon vying for Dico’s signature, but, unhappy with the compromises expected, she set up her own label on which she released her debut album, "Fuel". Still craving pure freedom of musical expression, Tina moved to London where she documented her struggles on her second album, "Notes", and worked with Sia on a number of songs for the British duo Zero 7. Tina Dico’s story is a testament to her integrity and commitment as a songwriter, which becomes evident every time she performs live. The art of songwriting

The daughter of a hi-fi obsessive, Tina Dico grew up with a reel-to-reel recorder and microphone and soon found herself writing and recording songs. Not only this, but her family home was filled with some of the most beautiful recordings from artists such as Donovan or Leonard Cohen that would ultimately influence the kind of artist Dico would become in later life. She soon aligned herself with the songwriting tradition, creating music that moved the soul with its tenderness and poignant simplicity.
