In true alternative folk/rock style, their songs range from deeply meditative to edgy and acerbic, merging traditional sounds with contemporary messages that resonate with today's audiences.

Trivia
In October 2014, founding member Miles Hunt released "The Wonder Stuff Diaries -- '86-'89", an entertaining, insightful chronicle of the group's rise to fame. The book is a direct transcription of the diaries that Hunt began writing during the band's formative years.
Band
Formed by Miles Hunt (guitar, vocals), Malcolm Treece (guitar, vocals), Rob Jones (bass) and Martin Gilks (drums), The Wonder Stuff first emerged on the music scene in 1986, when the quartet of musicians recorded their first tracks at an independent studio. The result, an EP titled "A Wonderful Day", attracted the attention of executives at Polydor, who signed the group to a contract in 1987. Success quickly followed with the release of a number of singles, including the Top 40 hit "It's Yer Money I'm After Baby". In 1988, the group's debut album "The Eight Legged Groove Machine" peaked at No. 18 on the UK charts. Over the next several years, The Wonder Stuff continued to headline at major festivals and concert venues throughout the UK, Europe and the US. In 1994, the band split up, but reunited again in 2000 for a sold-out concert series at London's Forum. Since then, the band has reunited for a series of successful world tours and chart-topping recording sessions.
Breakthrough
The Wonder Stuff achieved a major breakthrough with the release of their album "Hup", which topped at No. 5 on the UK charts. The album also featured their first Top 20 hit, "Don't Let Me Down Gently", which helped give the band an international following.
Hit Albums
After the release of their chart-topping album "Hup", The Wonder Stuff released a popular single, "Circlesquare", in 1990. This was followed in 1991 by their third album, "Never Loved Elvis", which reached No. 3 in the UK charts. The album featured several hit singles, including "The Size of a Cow", which reached No. 5 on the charts, and "Caught in My Shadow", which charted at No. 18. Their third album, "Sleep Alone", was equally successful in 1991, and featured the hit single "Dizzy". In recent years, The Wonder Stuff has achieved success with albums such as "Escape from Rubbish Island" (2004) and "Suspended By Stars" (2006). In 2013, The Wonder Stuff released "Oh No It's...The Wonder Stuff", which featured a number of hit tracks, including "Hard Truths" and "Be Thy Name".
Show Experience
A Wonder Stuff concert is a total musical experience that encompasses sounds and styles from both the past and present -- yet Wonder Stuff audiences have learnt to expect the unexpected. In addition to amazing guitar riffs and pulsating percussion, audiences are also treated to a wide range of instruments -- such as violins and banjos -- that aren't typically used in rock orchestration. The total concert experience has a fun, stand-up-and-dance vibe for audiences, but the band's upbeat repertoire is also mixed with intense, hardcore ballads that command attention. Miles Hunt and his colleagues give the show an intimate informality by adding engaging banter between songs, but the show is also chock-full of high-energy multimedia features such as strobe and laser lights and videos, making the concert an awesome total experience of sight and sound.
