Pineapple Thief Will Rock Your World
For more than 15 years, the progressive rock group The Pineapple Thief have continued to move audiences with an inventive sound and emotional lyrics. A band that began as an experiment, they're not afraid to explore a wide range of musical styles. Purchasing Pineapple Thief tickets will not leave you wanting for musical variety or ingenuity.
Schedule
The Pineapple Thief will be performing in various cities throughout Europe as part of their Magnolia Tour. The band will begin their tour in Germany by performing at the Puschkin Club in Dresden before heading to the cities of Rüsselsheim, Oberhausen, Isernhagen, Berlin, and Hamburg. The band's last stop is the United Kingdom where the band will perform at the O2 Academy in London, Fleece in Bristol, Ruby Lounge in Manchester, and The Liquid Room in Edinburgh.
Trivia
Embracing a progressive rock sound, The Pineapple Thief is known for experimenting with the mixing of traditional rock with unique instrumentals. For example, the band incorporated a full orchestra and choir in their ninth album, which is entitled All the Wars. The cover of their tenth album, Magnolia, was designed by artist Patrick Gonzales who is known for his inventive, dreamlike art pieces.
Band
The Pineapple Thief has seen an interesting shift in band membership from the time of its inception in 1999 by Soord. While beginning to record as a solo artist, Soord invented the name "The Pineapple Thief" as an experiment and way to present his own music. After the success of his first solo tracks, he brought in Jon Sykes, Wayne Higgins, Matt O'Leary, and Keith Harrison with whom he recorded the album 12 Stories Down in 2004. The band membership shifted again at this point: O'Leary left, only to be replaced by Steve Kitch, and Higgins left the group a couple years later. This core set of four band members, consisting of Soord, Sykes, Harrison, and Kitch, stayed together through 2014 when Harrison left the band and was replaced by Dan Osborne. Throughout the band's history, Soord has remained the principle song writer and lead singer.
Breakthrough
Unlike most bands that experience a breakthrough hit single or album, The Pineapple Thief has instead experienced a slow rise to fame. The group's earliest albums were less commercially successful but as the group continued to produce music through the 2000s, they gained increased attention, resulting in the group's first European tours in 2009 and 2010.
Hit Albums
While the band has an extensive discography, the group's album Magnolia has been the most successful, reaching 55th spot in the United Kingdom's music charts. Their previous album All the Wars was also a hit and led the way to an extensive European tour.
Show Experience
Admittedly, the band's use of unique instrumentals in their albums, such as the orchestra used in All the Wars, is difficult to bring on stage during the group's live performances. But they've still managed to translate their records into live performances without any problems. The band is also not afraid to experiment on stage by incorporating such unusual devices as a mechanical metronome to create a background ticking during an acoustic live performance. The group's ability to incorporate new sounds (or old sounds in new ways) into their live performances keeps those with The Pineapple Thief tickets guessing as to what the band will do next.
