The Coronas Biography - Inspired by the Libs
Born two weeks apart, Danny O'Reilly and Graham Knox set the foundations of a lifelong friendship from the off. They met their eventual bandmate in Dublin and began recording their eclectic indie rock sound while still in school, going on to study music related subjects at university. After several line-up changes in their formative years, the band began to garnered a huge fan base in their native Ireland and their first album Heroes or Ghosts became a cult hit in 2007, inspired by quintessential English indie act The Libertines.
They released their second album Tony Was an Ex Con in 2009 and the record soared straight to number one in the Irish chart off the back of boisterous kitchen-sink singles like 'Listen Dear'. The album received the gong for 'Best Irish Album' at the 2010 Meteor Awards, beating established acts like Snow Patrol and U2. Their most recent release, Closer to You, continued to cement their success in their homeland and hit the top of the Irish Charts in 2011 off the back of lead single 'Addicted to Progress', which received more radio airplay than any other single that year. The album also made a mark on UK audiences and the band have established an ever growing fan base on our shores.
