Stevie Nicks Tickets
Born in 1948, Stevie Nicks is a rock singer, performer and prolific songwriter. She is best known for her work with Fleetwood Mac, a band with whom she recorded Rumours, an album that sold over 40 million copies globally. It is regarded by many to be the best rock ’n’ roll studio album ever made and is the fifth-highest selling of its type. Nicks is also a solo artist and has made over 40 hit songs. Added to her Fleetwood Mac work, Nicks' solo records put her among the best-selling artists of all time. She has had several nominations for Grammy and American Music Awards as a solo performer.
Nicks began her solo career in 1981, while she was still a serving member of Fleetwood Mac. Her first album, Bella Donna, was an instant hit and topped the charts. She regularly performs with her own backing band. However, Nicks is also often associated with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, a band she has performed with many times.
Stevie Nicks' early career
Nicks began singing at the age of four, taught by her grandfather, a country singer. She met the guitarist Lindsey Buckingham at high school and went on to sing in a psychedelic rock band named Fritz, with him. After the group disbanded, Buckingham and Nicks continued to write and record as a duo and subsequently signed to Polydor Records. It was around this time, in the early 1970s, that she penned “Rhiannon”, a song that would later become a huge hit.
Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac
In 1975, Buckingham and Nicks were recruited by Fleetwood Mac, a British band. The album that followed was entitled Rhiannon, named after Nicks' song. The album and single versions were both highly successful in the US and the UK. Nicks' folk-rock song, “Landslide”, also appeared on that album. Nicks also developed her unique stage look at this time, working with designer Margi Kent.
The widely admired Rumours was the next recording project, begun in 1976. Nicks' light singing style featured throughout, whether she took the lead or provided backing vocals. She also contributed to the songwriting on the album, penning “Dreams”, “I Don't Want to Know” and “Gold Dust Woman”.
Stevie Nicks' solo work
Nicks continued to tour alone and produce albums in her own right, despite her commitments to Fleetwood Mac. Street Angel came about in 1994 and Trouble in Shangri-La was released in 2001, the latter being a significant hit. In Your Dreams, her fifth top ten hit as a solo artist, came out in 2001.
