Identified by their colours, red and white, the team was promoted from Ligue 2 to the top level of the French football league, Ligue 1, in 2018, and rightfully so after climbing up three divisions. Their long struggle back to glory allowed one player to stand out to be synonymous with victory for the club: Raymond Kopa, as the team's leading scorer, is a name that will always be linked to the fightback to reclaim the title of champions for The Red and Whites.

20 years after the establishment of the club as société sportive du parc pommery, the name was changed to Stade de Reims. At this time, the club was considered an amateur organisation. After winning the Championnat de France de football (the championship for amateur clubs) in 1935, they decided to launch themselves into the professional arena at full force. Bill Aitken was managing the team and had just taken Juventus into the top three of the European League. During the war, the team found its footing, as football had become a daily enjoyment for people. With players such as Robert Jonquet, considered the finest centre-half of the era, Les rouges et blancs became the club to watch. At the end of the 1953 season, fame was in their grasp as they secured their second league title in style. With newfound success came a new look, and so Stade Auguste Delaune was built. The project took four years to complete, and the stadium can now seat 20,000 people. It is situated just a 15min walk from the city centre of Reims and has been host venue to the Women's World Cup.
