SPAL Tickets
SPAL - born to survive
Also known as Società Polisportiva, the club only just managed to survive the battle against relegation from Serie A in 2017/18. It was a hair-raising struggle at times, but what doesn't kill a football club can only make it stronger. The same is true for this club, and in an act of defiance against the bigger Italian clubs, people don't hesitate to buy or sell SPAL tickets on StubHub!
Preparing for a new Italian football season
There can be no denying that the club began 2017/18 in dismal fashion. Sitting at the bottom by the end of that October, with just five points from thirty, things had to change. Despite fans calling for the head of former Fiorentina youth team manager Leonardo Semplici, the board stayed true to him and things picked up as Christmas approached. A revision of tactics saw the team go on a long unbeaten run between February and April of 2018, with their survival ultimately being secured by a sequence of three wins in the final four games. In order to avoid a repeat, all areas of the pitch were strengthened ahead of the 2018/19 Italian football season through new signings. At £4.32 million, attacking midfielder Jasmin Kurtic was the priciest of the summer arrivals, coming from Europa League surprise package Atalanta. So too did strikers Albert Paloschi (£3.6 million) and Andrea Petagna (loan), the last of whom was particularly influential in his parent club's European efforts. With a new squad comes a new hope, and all of summer 2018's arrivals are sure to aid in the process of buying and selling SPAL tickets.
How SPAL reached the top
Beginning life as Circolo Ars et Labor in 1907, the club turned professional in 1919. It reached the top flight of Italian football in its first season and stayed there for five years. The years immediately after World War II were exceptionally kind to the club and - now known as Società Polisportiva - it went into Serie A for the first time in 1951. Eight years later, the club finished at a then-high of fifth place in Serie A, but that would be followed by two relegations and one promotion in the 1960s. The following four decades were spent in the second or third tier of Italian football, with a declining situation resulting in bankruptcy in 2005. Then, in 2013, SPAL merged with Giacomense and, equipped with improved resources, moved through the leagues to reach Serie A once again in 2017. It has been a long and difficult road but, after negotiating a rough start to reach the top flight, the club knows exactly what it takes to survive. So, if you want to witness history in the making, be sure to buy SPAL tickets on StubHub today!
