Spain National Rugby Union Team Tickets
Spain Rugby – consistently good performances in Europe
While rugby union has always taken a backseat to the country's main sporting passion, football, the Spain rugby team has a very respectable record in the European Nations Cup and even made an appearance at the Rugby World Cup in 1999. They've done even better in the Sevens form of the game, and have become regulars on the international championship circuit, gaining "core team" status in 2012. They play in the traditional House of Bourbon colours of red jerseys and blue shorts. If you're a fan or European international rugby, you can buy or sell Spain Rugby tickets on StubHub.
A long and proud European rugby history
Spain's rugby history goes back to the very beginning of the 20th century when a Spanish club was created to play in a three-way competition with teams of British and French exiles in Spain. The Spanish Rugby Federation was formed in 1923, but it wasn't until 1929 that an official national team was formed, playing a game against Italy in front of the Spanish royal family, which Spain won 9–0. There have historically been four major centres of the game in the country: Barcelona, Madrid, Valladolid and the whole of the Basque Country. Since then the Spanish national rugby team has mainly competed against the European countries in its tournament groups, which most often has included Romania, Portugal, Germany and the strong Georgia Rugby team. The Spaniards have always acquitted themselves pretty well in European competition, winning the European Nations Cup in the 2004–2006 season, managing a second-place finish in 2019, and finishing third three times – all in the first 20 years of the competition's existence. They play a free-flowing running game, which is always fun to watch, so get your Spain Rugby tickets whenever the European international season is on.
Domestic league and cup rugby in Spain
When you're in Spain, rugby games can be found across the country during the winter season. The first division domestic competition is known as the División de Honor, so look out for those fixtures as well as for the Copa del Rey de Rugby cup games. The winners of the league play the cup winners in the Super Cup, the Supercopa de España de Rugby. If you want to watch home international matches of the Spanish national rugby team, look for games at Estadio Nacional. Women's rugby has been thriving in Spain since 1989, when the Spanish women's national team played their debut international against neighbouring France. They played in the Women's Six Nations tournament from 2000 till 2007, when they were replaced by Italy. There's always plenty for rugby fans visiting Spain, and when you're planning your trip remember that you can get all your Spain Rugby tickets here on StubHub.
