Popcaan's versatility keeps audiences on their toes

Born Andrae Hugh Sutherland, he is a Jamaican deejay, singer and songwriter from Saint Thomas in Jamaica. In 2007, he approached the Jamaican musician, record producer and dancehall performer, Vybz Kartel at a jam, who then became both his producer and mentor. He released a slew of early hits such as Gal Wine, Clarks, It Nuh Work So, Hot Grabba and Gansta City, which featured regularly on Jamaican radio. After his breakthrough single Clarks, he won three awards at the Youth View Awards and toured the world, where he met the Canadian rapper Drake (with whom he would later work with).
