Chill Moody and Donn T: The perfect duo
&More was created after Chill Moody and Donn T hit it off at a party in late 2016. They were aware of each other’s music before they met, as both musicians were based in Philadelphia and had already achieved successful solo careers. By this point, Chill Moody had several albums under his belt (such as 2018’s West Chilly II), and Donn T had releases stretching back to her 2010 debut Kaleidoscopic. Aside from admiring each other’s music, upon meeting, they realised they had a lot in common in terms of their personalities and the strong political beliefs they both held. It’s something that can be heard throughout their music, with their tracks making explicit references to societal issues that many artists shy away from. The result is undoubtedly powerful music, with tracks that are sure to leave a lasting impression on any listener. &More: music with a message
After performing at gigs and festivals such as Roots Jam Festival and being featured on NPR’s Tiny Desk show, they began to work on their debut album, which was released in 2019. The album—"Ethel Bobcat"—was met with much acclaim, and featured production from the likes of Jack Morelli, who has worked with huge artists such as Bruno Mars. As can be expected from &More, it’s an album that is perforated with reflections and commentary on society and political issues. The track WHOA, for example, talks about police brutality and racism, and there’s a track dedicated to Michelle Obama—"4ever 1st Lady". The album also features some huge guest appearances, which is particularly impressive given that it was their debut release. The track WHOA featured legendary hip-hop artist Chuck D and singer Bilal lent his vocals to the song "This Is War". Make sure you get &More tickets on StubHub to see one of their fantastic live shows, whether you’re in it for the powerful message, the soulful vocals of Donn T, or the skilful rapping of Chill Moody
