JoJo - American Singer Promises New Album for 2016
Having recently released #LoveJo2, the sequel to her 2014 EP, this American singer releases a long awaited full album in 2016 after finally ironing out legal issues with her old record label. First taking to the spotlight at the age of 13, her debut single 'Leave (Get Out)' was the theme tune of a generation and she consequently became the youngest solo artist to have a number one in the US Billboard top 40. 'Too Little Too Late' saw similar viral success before the singer pursued a career in acting, alongside releasing second album The High Road. Now nearly a decade later, after dropping a number of individual EPs, she will make her official return this year, starting with a show at O2 Academy Islington in London. JoJo Biography - Star Proves it's Never Too Little Too Late When it Comes to Music
Born in Vermont in 1990, Joanna Noelle Blagden Levesque spent her childhood imitating the greats of R&B, jazz and soul, and by the time she was seven she was performing on television show Destination Stardom. Her appearance caught the attention of Oprah Winfrey who asked the starlet to perform live on her iconic chat show. After competing on America's Most Talented Kids, Levesque was offered a contract with Blackground at the age of 12 and began working on her debut album. The eponymous LP was launched with single 'Leave (Get Out)', which has since proven to be her defining hit after topping charts all over the world. Tours with the likes of pop band Busted followed, and she earned two nominations for MTV Europe Music Awards in 2004. Further singles 'Baby It's You' with rapper Bow Wow and 'Not That Kinda Girl' were then released before a foray into acting, appearing in her first film Aquamarine alongside Emma Roberts in 2006.
Later the same year, Levesque's second record The High Road dropped, receiving positive reviews across the board, with lead single 'Too Little Too Late' breaking the record for the biggest jump up in US Billboard chart history, moving from number 66 to number three in a single week. With the singer struggling to come to an agreement with her record label over the release of a third LP, a series of EPs and mixtapes were released to tide things over. Fans finally got a preview of Levesque's third album a decade after her sophomore effort, with three tracks on her 2015 EP III set to be included on the as-yet-untitled record. Having finally being released from her old label though, she was able to sign with Atlantic Records, with a new album expected in 2016.
