Get into US junior ice hockey with Lincoln Stars
The Lincoln Stars are a junior ice hockey team in the United States that plays out of Lincoln in Nebraska. They're limited to players between the ages of 16 and 21, so while this is still the highest competitive level of hockey for that age group—and a direct entry to the professional league—there is still that youthful enthusiasm and extra layer of sportsmanship to enjoy that is absent when things get serious at the professional level. So partake in the joys of the sport, played by up and coming future stars: buy or sell Lincoln Stars tickets on StubHub.
Almost complete USHL domination
The Lincoln Stars play in what is effectively the youth development league for the NHL, the United States Hockey League. They play in the top division of this league, known as Tier 1. This is the best division to watch if you follow US ice hockey and you're interested in keeping tabs on who will be coming through the development ranks in the near future, and to get a glimpse of some of the game's future stars. In fact, this is a team that has developed something of a reputation for producing players who have gone on to national acclaim, including Josh Langfeld, Brandon Bolig, and David Backes. The team was brought to the city of Lincoln in the mid-90s, as part of a promotional drive to build an ice rink there. From the outset this was a very strong team, winning an unthinkable 40 games in their very first season, and absolutely dominating their league. This continued for the best part of a decade, with the franchise going through to the playoffs an astonishing nine times out of the first ten years of its existence. This is a team that has always delivered scintillating ice hockey, so don't hesitate to get Lincoln Stars tickets during the junior ice hockey season over in the US.
Experience close-quarters ice hockey action
The Lincoln Stars have enjoyed something of a rivalry with the Omaha Lancers, if only because of the Clark Cup defeat they handed out to them. It's nothing like the traditional rivalries between other teams, although there is some Nebraska-Omaha needle, but if you want a bit of heightened tension in the games you go and watch, wait for a series between these two teams when you're planning to get some Lincoln Stars tickets. The venue to look for if you want to go to some home games is a famous one in the city, The Ice Box. It can take just over 4,500 spectators, so you can expect quite a big atmosphere, bearing in mind the relatively close confines of an ice hockey rink compared to, say, a club rugby stadium in the UK. This makes an already frenetic game even more exciting, but without some of the naked aggression in the pro game. Make no mistake, though, this is still classic no-holds-barred ice hockey, so grab your tickets on StubHub.
