Jamie Woon Biography - New Album Set to Hit Charts
Born and raised in Greater London, the budding singer is the son of a Malaysian-Chinese father and a Scottish mother who works as a backing singer. After falling in love with music at an early age he went on to attend the BRIT School, graduating a year after Amy Winehouse, who he was to supported live soon after. He caught the music world's attention with his soulful a cappella cover of 'The Wayfaring Stranger' in 2006.
Off the back of this release he signed a record deal with Polydor Records and unveiled the single 'Night Air' which went on to chart at number five in the UK Indie charts. The songwriter's 2011 debut studio album Mirrorwritingwas praised for its infectious and edgy panache. Whilst creating his signature style the singer was influenced by rhythm and blues, soul and electronica. The result of this genre mash up is hauntingly beautiful vocals supported by subtle synth-lead grooves. After a hiatus from music, the star returned to work with artists like Disclosure, Portico and Wild Beasts before planning a second album. The release of two new singles in 2015 marks the return of one of England's most intriguing musicians.
