Hed PE Tickets
A punk rock band from California, Hed PE is sometimes known as (hed) Planet Earth. The group is known for its ability to switch between various music styles, often fusing together different sounds for a distinctive take on music that is entirely its own. For example, the band is equally at home playing reggae as it is nu metal. In addition, the members of Hed PE will often play hip-hop and rap metal during their frequently explosive live sets. The band has been performing regularly since the mid-1990s. Former members of the group include Christopher Hendrich, Alan James, Doug Boyce, Sonny Mayo and Wesley Geer, among others.
Hed PE's formation and early years
Jared Gomes was responsible for putting Hed PE together. The band's lead vocalist throughout its existence, he got together with Geer, a guitarist known on the rock scene in Orange County. Mostly performing in smaller venues on the West Coast of America, Hed PE self-financed their first release. This was an eight-track EP called Church of Realities, which had three 'hidden' songs on it. It included elements of punk, jazz, metal, rap and funk.
In 1995, the members of the band signed to Jive Records, a division of Sony Music. It was on this label that their debut album came out. The eponymous LP fused reggae with industrial and other musical influences. It featured the vocals of Sen Dog of Cypress Hill and sold in excess of 100,000 copies.
Hed PE's later career
The band returned with a new studio album entitled Broke, in 2000. It got to number 63 in the US Billboard 200 Album Charts. “Bartender” was selected as a single, a track that got to 23 in the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks charts that year. Blackout, of 2003, was even more of a commercial success, reaching number 33 in the US charts. After a change of guitarist and a fourth album, Only in Amerika, the band signed a new deal with Suburban Noize Records, an independent label based in California. Back 2 Base X, a work that got to number 12 in the Top Independent Album charts, was Hed PE's first album for their new label. A new studio album and a live LP followed in 2007 and 2008, respectively.
In 2014, Hed PE released their next album on another new label, this time Pavement Music. Recorded at Filthy Hands Studio, Evolution was a 12-track work that was mixed by Ulrich Wild. Forever!, with another new lineup, was put out by Hed PE in 2016.
