Fargo Force earned its place as a Tier 1 junior hockey team of the Western Conference of the United States Hockey League, having already experienced championship league glory. The team was originally forged to be the main tenant of the Scheels Arena, and former North Dakota Fighting Sioux hockey program coach Dean Blais soon became the general manager and coach of the franchise. The rise of the new-found Fargo Force sparked an announcement from the arena’s previous team, the Fargo-Moorhead Jets, explaining that they would be leaving the arena later in 2008. Blais later left the team and was succeeded by Chad Johnson who led Fargo Force to the Clark Cup Finals in 2009 and 2010. Jason Herter then took over the team in 2010 after Johnson left to join forces with the Lincoln Stars. Unfortunately, Jason Herter then left the team for an assistant coach position at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. John Marks filled the teams need for an ambitious coach, however, after retirement in 2014, Cary Eades took over, and in 2018, Fargo Force won the Clark Cup Finals as their first championship win in history. The Youngstown Phantoms also competed in the 2018 Clark Cup Finals, although they were no match for the fierce Fargo Force.
