The Cowbell Cup tournament was created in 2011 and originally sponsored mainly by Prairie Farms. The cup is earned by the team with the best score during the cup’s Regular Season Series. Other competing teams in the series include the Waterloo Blackhawks and the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. In 2015, the Dupaco Community Credit Union took over primary sponsorship of the tournament and renamed it to the Dupaco Cowbell Cup. The Dubuque Fighting Saints won the cup in the first 2011–2012 season, the 2012–2013 season, as well as the 2014–2015 season as reigning champions in the ice hockey series. In 2014, the junior ice hockey team finished in third place in the Eastern Conference with an impressive 36 - 19 - 5 record.
