DJ Marky Tickets
A professional drum 'n' bass DJ from Brazil, DJ Marky is the stage name of Marco Antonio Silva. He is one of several performance DJs from Brazil who have been credited with developing a new sound in drum 'n' bass that has popularised it around the globe. Alongside fellow DJs such as DJ Patife, XRS Land and Drumagick, DJ Marky has brought drum 'n' bass to a whole new generation of fans, thanks to releases that include “Só Tinha Que Ser Com Você” and “LK”, to name but two. Beginning in the early 1990s as DJ Marky Mark, the performer has also released other popular tracks such as “Yellow Shoes” and “Mystic Sunset”.
DJ Marky's career milestones
Working in Sao Paolo, the performer was first brought to the attention of an English DJ, Bryan Gee, who invited the DJ to make the trip across the Atlantic Ocean to find fame in the UK. It was during the latter half of the 1990s that DJ Marky began to build up a following for his brand of drum 'n' bass in London. He soon gained a residency spinning vinyl at a club called Movement. From here, DJ Marky went on to play regularly at the End club in Bloomsbury. From relatively modest beginnings as an exponent of the dance music sub-genre, DJ Marky eventually broke out into the European music scene before the South American started to conquer truly international audiences.
One of the keys to DJ Marky's success as a live DJ during the late 1990s and early 2000s was his prodigious ability with the turntable. His live act became noted by promoters for his precise mixing, which would often involve highly elaborate switches between tracks. As the expectant crowds grew to understand his mastery of mixing, so did the numbers attracted to his gigs. This was partly due to the exposure the DJ received when some of his live work was broadcast by the BBC on Radio 1. Some music critics at the time noted how the DJ was able to make a special connection with his fans.
DJ Marky's debut album was called Workin' the Mix. Released in 1999, the LP was soon followed by Audio Architecture, a 2000 release on the Trama label. A third album entitled Audio Architecture 2 subsequently came out in 2002, followed by a collaborative work with XRS, called In Rotation, two years later. In 2006, the now established DJ performed live at the Lovebox Festival in Victoria Park as one of the headliners. He has also played live sets at the Notting Hill Carnival on multiple occasions.
