Chick Corea Tickets
A jazz legend with an amazing, prolific career spanning over fifty years, Chick Corea is the standard to which all other jazz musicians are measured. An American jazz and fusion pianist, keyboardist and composer, Corea has performed with some of the greats - Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and McCoy Tyner. He is an innovator, often inspiring those who come after him.
Chick Corea is planning a world tour that would exhaust someone half his age. The spring tour hits major Asian-Pacific destinations including Taiwan, Seoul, Melbourne and Sydney. When summer arrives, he'll be performing across Europe, making stops in Austria and Germany with Bobby McFerrin, and then finishing in France and the UK with Herbie Hancock. The tour wraps in autumn with a coast-to-coast US tour featuring Béla Fleck.
Corea's father was also a musician; he performed as a jazz trumpeter who led a Dixieland band in Boston during the 1930s and 1940s. He introduced his son to the piano at age four; at eight Corea learned to play the drums. Growing up in a house of jazz musicians naturally guided him in his career and inspired him to explore music on his own.
Chick Corea's professional life began in the 1960s with trumpeter Blue Mitchell and his quintet. Corea was featured on Mitchell's record "The Thing To Do." He also played with several Latin musicians who served as major influences on Corea's early musical style. Aside from his unique talent and prolific career, Chick Corea has always been open to experimentation and embracing new genres. His style varied over the years, from his avant garde period in the late '60s and jazz fusion in the 1970s, to modern duets, partnerships and traditional jazz trios.
Chick Corea was fortunate enough to work with a variety of artists. In 1968, he replaced Herbie Hancock in the piano chair of Miles Davis' band, appearing on many of his landmark albums. Performing live under Miles Davis further developed his fusion of free jazz improvisation and traditional rock music. This association allowed him to experiment with electric instruments and ushered in his avant garde period.
Chick Corea's early career went through many phases, and he continued to push himself and explore different musical influences. His album, Tones for Joan's Bones in 1966, debuted two years before the release of his album Now He Sings, Now He Sobs, with Roy Haynes on drums. Corea continued to lend his talents to other artists' albums like Stan Getz's 1967 Sweet Rain, duet albums, such as Crystal Silence, with vibraphonist Gary Burton, and a live album with Herbie Hancock in 1978.
An evening with Chick Corea is like travelling through a musical landscape of avant-garde, fusion, traditional jazz and bebop. Corea's fearless experimentation and impeccable talent guarantees a show that is awe-inspiring and mesmerising. Most importantly, Corea is bursting with fun, and Chick Corea tickets are sure to inspire future concert attendance. Although he's a living legend, his shows are not stuffy tributes to the art form; Corea presents the crowd with a delightful music journey."
