You'll find Cannock Chase Forest in Staffordshire. Formerly a Royal Forest, it's been named an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, meaning it is primarily a place to go for rambles and picnics, but thankfully, like so many other designated forest areas in the UK, it also provides a wonderful venue for outdoor live music events. Cannock Chase Forest is first and foremost a paradise for nature lovers, so when you book tickets for live music events here, why not stay in the area for a few days and take advantage of the many other activities that you can enjoy here. There's family camping in the Tackeroo area of the forest and absolutely wonderful Segway trails, as well as Gruffalo orienteering and sculpture activities for the little ones. Another big highlight for kids is the Shaun the Sheep Farmageddon Glow Trail, where they get to find and rescue a stranded space traveller using a mobile phone app to solve puzzles hidden in the forest that are only visible under UV light. It's all tremendous fun. On the music entertainment side of things, the open areas have always provided natural auditoriums with stages erected to showcase some of the biggest bands and solo artists in the UK and from further abroad. Cannock Chase Forest also has plenty of interesting relics and ruins to explore. The remains of an Iron Age fort can be found at the highest point of the area, known as the Castle Ring. There are also war memorials commemorating significant events in some of the major wars that Britain has been involved in over the past few centuries, including the touching marble headstone of Freda, a Great Dane dog who was the mascot of the (Earl of Liverpool's Own) New Zealand Rifle Brigade during the Great War. Phials of soil from Katyn forest and Warsaw are also preserved here from World War II. When it comes to music, however, the forest has been one of the venues for the national Forest Tour, which each year has seen the cream of British artists performing in the open-air in a charming clearing in the forest.
