Coming out of the music hotspot of Providence, the progressive indie rock outfit known as The Dear Hunter has become a critical and commercial darling. The Dear Hunter's mixture of introspective, intelligent lyrics, compelling melodies and distinct modern-rock bent have propelled them into the upper echelon of the music scene.
Fans with The Dear Hunter tickets all around the world can catch the band on their international tour. Lead singer Casey Crescenzo began as guitarist and co-vocalist in the acclaimed Massachusetts band, The Receiving End of Sirens. Crescenzo has released covers of the Sean Kingston song "Beautiful Girls," the Bjork song "Unraveled" and has appeared on the Genesis song "Forgive Durden." One of Crescenzo's compilations appeared on the companion soundtrack to "Superman Returns."
The Dear Hunter came out of an offshoot of The Receiving End of Sirens, when member Casey Crescenzo departed to spend more time with his side project, a group that would become The Dear Hunter. Enlisting his brother Nick to play in the new band, Crescenzo began work on an ambitious project for the band's first record, "Act 1: The Lake South, The River North."
The band earned notice almost immediately with their debut record and its two follow-ups, "The Meaning Of, and All Things Regarding, Mrs. Leading" and "Life and Death." The trio of records presented the story of a young boy and his lover, Mrs. Leading. The intriguing and deep records earned the band generous critical acclaim and caught the ears of the indie music scene, impressed with the band's ambition and storytelling prowess.
After the band's first three records, The Dear Hunter struck back with two more acclaimed records not related to the storyline, with "The Color Spectrum" in 2011 and "Migrant" in 2013. Once those two records came out, The Dear Hunter returned to the storyline with another praised recording, "Rebirth in Reprise," in 2015. Full of low-fi indie rock melodies and introspective, clever lyrics, the records complemented and grew on each other, making for an intensely expansive catalogue.
Those with The Dear Hunter tickets will catch a truly transcendent live music experience. Their shows are intimate and engaging, as Crescenzo and his crackerjack band of ace musicians fill their venues with carefully woven and detailed music and spend time interacting with the passionate fanbase. Don't expect any modern-rock mosh pits or crazed electric rock at their shows. Rather, their shows reward attention and focus, as the musicians on stage present an intensely personal experience. Additionally, be prepared to sing along.
