A literary sensation

Born in the Indian state of Punjab in 1992, Rupi Kaur moved with her family to Canada at the age of four where she developed a love of the written word. After graduating from the University of Waterloo with a degree in rhetoric and professional writing, she then published her first anthology, 'Milk and Honey'. Inspired by the likes of Alice Walker, Kahlil Gibran, and Sharon Olds, as well as various Sikh scriptures, the 2014 collection of prose and poetry became an instant success, selling more than 2.5 million copies across the world. Also illustrated by Kaur herself, the book spent an astonishing 77 weeks on The New York Times Best Seller List and has since received approximately 25 different language translations. Kaur proved that she wasn't a one-hit wonder in 2017 with the release of 'The Sun and Her Flowers', a collection that addresses typically hard-hitting themes such as trauma, abuse, feminism, self-care, immigration and revolution.
