Reforming Refused in 2012

In 2012 Refused announced that they were finally reforming after having taken a break in 1998, citing the fact that the band needed a hiatus from touring and creating music together. The original line-up for the Swedish band comprised guitarist Jon Brannstrom, singer Dennis Lyxen, bassist Magnus Flagge and drummer David Sandstorm. Guitarist Jon was a member from 1994 until 2014, when he left and was replaced by the Kristofer Steen. After announcing their reformation of the band, Refused played a host of festivals and live gigs in 2012 such as Coachella Music Festival and Download Festival in the UK, before promptly announcing they were going on another hiatus! A reunion tour was then announced by the band in 2014, seeing them bring their politically motivated lyrics and fast-paced punk rock to stages around the world once more.

Making records and forming new bands

Refused made it no secret from their hardcore fans that they’ve struggled to play as a band over the years, with the group splitting up publicly several times after releasing their albums. The band had released three albums and five EPs before their first break up in 1998. They didn’t go onto release another album until 2015, three years after reforming then taking another hiatus. During their infamous breaks several of the band members wanted to continue working on music projects, with Dennis Lyxen forming a group called The International Noise Conspiracy and then a project called Final Exit with bandmate Sandstrom.
