No less than ten Ligue 1 titles
Founded in 1899, OM Olympique de Marseille became one of the dominant French teams of the pre-war era, winning three Coupe de France trophies in the 1920s and a Ligue 1 title in 1937. The club then enjoyed a second golden streak in the early 1970s when they achieved a league and cup double. But their most dominant period came nearly two decades later, thanks to a five-year spell in which they won four consecutive Ligue 1 titles, a Coupe de France and the inaugural league version of Europe's biggest club tournament with victory over Italian giants AC Milan. After an array of behind the scenes problems, Marseille bounced back in the '00s with a tenth league title, three Coupe de France trophies in a row and appearances in two Europa League finals. Notable players over the years have included 1991 Ballon d'Or winner Jean-Pierre Papin, international tournament winners Robert Pires, Laurent Blanc and Christophe Dugarry and the enigma that is Eric Cantona. The electric Stade Vélodrome
Marseille initially played their home games at the Stade de l'Huveaune before moving to the Stade Vélodrome in 1938. The 67,000-capacity stadium has since undergone several renovations, most notably in 1998 in preparation for the world's biggest football tournament which featured several Marseille players past and present. Matchday visitors should expect an incredible atmosphere bolstered by the various dominant supporter groups situated behind each goal line, including the Marseille Trop Puissant, Dodgers and Fanatics. Music is also a vital part of the Marseille experience with Van Halen's 1980s synth-pop anthem "Jump" blared out each time the team runs out from the tunnel onto the pitch and Puff Daddy's epic "Come With Me" used whenever a home goal is scored. The Stade Vélodrome is perhaps at its most electric when Marseille's biggest rivals, Paris Saint-Germain FC, come to town.
