Mad Cool Festival increases Madrid's cultural diversity
Mad Cool Festival is one of the newest additions to the cultural landscape of Spain's capital city, Madrid, bringing together food, art, fashion and, of course, music across a three-day weekend that has quickly become one of the most popular events of the European summer season. Mad Cool Festival tickets are ready now to buy or sell via StubHub.
Success and controversy at the Magic Box
The Mad Cool Festival is promoted by Live Nation in association with La Competencia, a Spanish television company, as an effort to increase tourism in Madrid by adding a unique cultural experience to the city's summer calendar. The inaugural event of Mad Cool Festival was held from 16-18 July 2016 at the Caja Majica (Building of the Magic Box) and featured a total of 5 stages, three inside and two outside. The 100,000 spectators who gathered there were treated to truly world-class musical entertainment with The Who, Jane's Addiction and Neil Young performing many of their greatest hits. The success of the premier edition installed the festival as a showcase event to rival other Spanish festivals, such as Primavera Sound, Barcelona Beach Festival and Daydream Festival. The second year of the festival sold out three months in advance but was marred by the death of one of its performers on its second day, leading to several municipal tributes and the establishment of the 'Espacio Pedro Aunion'. Mad Cool Festival tickets are available now for purchase or sale via StubHub.
Different venue, same top-notch musical entertainment
The need for a larger venue saw the Mad Cool Festival moved to a new location, the IFEMA trade fair complex, for its third instalment in 2018, which featured a total of seven stages: four held outdoors and three in tented spaces and, like the two previous years, attracted the same top-quality entertainment that had made it instantly popular. While acts like Foo Fighters, Royksopp and Kings of Leon headlined during the final show at the Caja Majica, the 80,000 daily spectators who gathered at the IFEMA grounds during the summer weekend were treated to the amazing talents of Kasabian, Franz Ferdinand and Depeche Mode among the 50+ acts who performed. If you're planning to attend the Mad Cool Festival, it's almost certain that you'll enjoy a line-up packed with talent such as The Chemical Brothers, Eric Prydz and The Cure on the six stages at IFEMA, in addition to the fashion and art exhibitions on display and the gastronomic delights guaranteed to whet your appetite.
