Catch up on contemporary German Christian rock with LUPID
You'd be forgiven for not having heard much about LUPID if you're not a fan of the more obscure German pop bands knocking around today. They're a contemporary Christian rock band that functions primarily as the vehicle for songwriter and lead vocalist, Tobias Hundt. He previously had something of a solo career in the contemporary gospel scene in Germany with his eponymously titled former band. This is the classic rock power trio, and they have a light pop-rock sound that you'll find very easily digestible when you buy or sell LUPID tickets on StubHub.
Collaborations with other young German gospel artists
LUPID has already collaborated in live performances with their peer bands, something that Hundt has always done. Through this they have close associations with other bands that have emerged from many areas including their native region of Gießen, where they all went to school together prior to forming the band. Also on the list of these collaborations are solo gospel artists like Samuel Harfst and Johannes Falk. They run a pretty successful recording studio as well, with Hundt having started to develop his chops as a producer. The band itself has been going since 2016 and found recording-industry success almost immediately, being signed to Air Force One Records which also gave them access to a distribution deal via the umbrella label, Universal Music. They spent two years honing material for their debut album, which they released in 2018. "At the End of the Day" sold very well in Christian contemporary music circles, yielding three singles and starting the band off on their first national tour. To catch them when they perform near you, look out for LUPID tickets as they appear here.
Flying the flag for German-language Christian rock
The most successful of the first singles by LUPID was the title track itself, "At the End of the Day", which they recorded with emerging rapper Majoe from nearby Duisberg. Two other singles followed, in the form of "Out of All Clouds" and the slower "Say My Name". This established them as a very promising young contemporary Christian rock act, and their German-language lyrics have appealed vastly to audiences in their homeland who are more used to listening to international English artists in the gospel genre. In 2019 the band struck out on their own and established their own record label, on which they released two singles, "Happy End" and "Lieb Mich Jetzt". If you're not familiar with any of their music but you're a fan of modern gospel rock, you could place them in a similar musical category to artists like Mark Forster or perhaps Andreas Bourani. Or you can just take the plunge and get LUPID tickets on StubHub.
