Leicester City FC - Foxes Look to Cement Premier League Status
After narrowly avoiding relegation from the Premier League last season with a miraculous escape from the drop zone, the Foxes endured a turbulent summer, witnessing the departure of Nigel Pearson and the arrival of Claudio Ranieri. The defence has been reinforced by the acquisitions of Christian Fuchs, Robert Huth and Yohan Benalouane, with Switzerland international Gokhan Inler brought in to screen the back four, and the Midlands side ought to be a far more solid side in 2015-16 after a testing return to the top flight. They're still playing attractive and expansive football, however, with an attack spearheaded by Jamie Vardy, Shinji Okazaki, Andrej Kramaric and Leonardo Ulloa. Ranieri continues to prove his mettle as a coach after taking charge of some of the biggest clubs in world football.
Leicester City Biography - Midlands Giants
Originally formed as Leicester Fosse in 1884, the club was reformed with City in its name after the end of the First World War. In their long history, they have regularly yo-yoed between first and second tiers of English football, with a single season in League One in 2008-09 their only spell at the third level. Prior to their latest return to the Premier League, the club's most recent golden age was in the '90s under Martin O'Neill, with the likes of Muzzy Izzet, Robbie Savage and Emile Heskey starring for a thrilling side. The Foxes have boasted some of the world's best players in their ranks though, from England's 1966 World Cup goalkeeper Gordon Banks to Golden Boot winner Gary Lineker, and the current team will hope to emulate those legends.
