League of Legends Tickets
League of Legends is a wildly popular multiplayer online battle arena computer game developed by Riot Games that has become one of the world's premier e-sports. Pro players from around the world gather during playoffs and championships to display their skill and cunning. During these events, players and fans unite to watch who will come out victorious and earn the massive cash prize.
Plot
League of Legends is a computer game created by Chinese-owned, Los Angeles-based game development studio Riot Games. The game has a fantasy theme and comes with playable "champions" who have different strengths and weaknesses. Once the player selects their desired champions, they can then lead an artificial intelligence army against another player's army to gain control of the territory. In the beginning of each League of Legends match, the player's champions start at a base level, allowing them to gain strength through fighting experience and special items from acquired gold.
Schedule
In North America and Europe, Riot Games organises official e-sport competitions called League of Legends Championship Series, also known as LCS. The events are held throughout the year and League of Legends tickets often sell out. Venues for the League of Legends Championship Series include Madison Square Garden in New York, Wembley Arena in London, Brussels Expo in Belgium and Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin.
Trivia
Video games have been played competitively for decades, with players being awarded large cash prizes and even Ferrari sports cars. The League of Legends Championship Series has such a strong following that some players have even been granted athletic visas when visiting other countries to play competitively. League of Legends, often called LoL for short, is a free to play game and was originally inspired by a modification of the popular real-time strategy computer game, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne.
Cast
Pro players in the LCS are officially sanctioned by Riot Games, are allotted to a limited number of teams and are even given salaries. The players compete not only to keep their place in the team, but also for cash prizes, such as one million U.S. dollars in the World Championship. North American teams who have won first place in the past include Team SoloMid and Cloud9. Other competitors include Team Vulcan, Good Game University, Counter Logic Gaming, Team Liquid and LMQ. European first place winning teams include Fnatic and Alliance. They beat out second place European teams including Gambit Gaming, Lemondogs, SK Gaming, Unicorns of Love and Evil Geniuses.
Original Author
Founded in 2006 by a pair of entrepreneurial gamers, Riot Games began as an independent game development studio in Los Angeles. They launched their first game, League of Legends, in 2009, which was developed by a team that included ex-developers of their main competition at the time, Defense of the Ancients (DotA). They also recruited key talent from Blizzard Entertainment, creators of the massively multiplayer online role playing game, World of Warcraft. Riot Games is known to be extremely player-centric, with company mottos such as "We listen to what players say and do. We analyze deeply. Then we act to make their experience better."
