A non-stop party
Established in 2006, the festival was originally held in the Wisla Krakow Stadium. It was moved to the Polish Aviation Museum in 2009. The museum is on the site of a now unused airport, which was built in 1912 by the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It is one of the oldest airports in the world. In the same year, The Krakow Live Festival won the Overseas category of the UK Festival Award. There has been an increase in the number of alternative music artists in attendance and there are now side stages that are housed in tents. The festival lasts for two days and there are various tickets types that can be purchased, including one-day tickets and those for the full festival and access to the campsite adjacent to the festival ground. The fun doesn’t stop when the last band for the day walks off the stage. There are after-show parties and other events to keep the serious festivalgoer entertained until dawn, when it all starts again. A long musical tradition
Music festivals have taken many forms throughout history. The modern pop festival has come a long way since the early gatherings in the 1960s. The most famous of these were Woodstock in 1969, in which the likes of Joe Cocker, The Who, Jefferson Airplane and Jimi Hendrix gave seminal performances, and the Isle of Wight festival a year later.
