Jungle: retro-funk royalty to tour UK in 2018
Embracing a retro sound reminiscent of the 1970s funk movement, top-ten charting group Jungle have made short work of the UK music scene having come to dominate the airwaves with their electro-fuelled sound. The seven-piece outfit have found a firm footing on London's live scene; going on to nurture a fearsome reputation for their raved-about live performances and success of their self-titled debut album.
The band have now announced a new UK run for May (calling at Glasgow; Newcastle; Cardiff; Brighton; Nottingham; Bristol; Manchester and Birmingham), as well as playing new track "House in LA" live on US TV. Make sure you don't miss out, buy Jungle tickets now at StubHub.
Jungle: from childhood neighbours to Mercury Prize nominees
Childhood friends since the age of nine founding duo Tom McFarland and Josh Lloyd-Watson struck up a friendship while living as next door neighbours in London's Shepherds Bush. The pair spent most of their school career performing together in a number of amateur groups and, in 2013, turned their longstanding friendship into a professional one when they decided to produce music under the moniker of Jungle. Wanting to be known for their music and videos rather than their identities, the duo expanded into a seven-piece group.
The band were particularly concerned about their live shows and early on ditched the idea of merely reproducing their electronic-based music on their laptops, instead opting to recreate their songs as part of a full live experience – a tradition that has made the group famous on the UK's live scene. After being nominated for the BBC's Sound of 2014 prize on the strength of singles such as "The Heat", the group released their eponymous debut album which quickly shot to number seven in the UK album charts.
Now with a Mercury Prize shortlist nomination under their belts, the group are a hot topic among music fans across the UK, who are queuing up to see the funk-inspired band live. Check out the group's latest tour dates and buy Jungle tickets now at StubHub.
