Joaquín Sabina stands as a monumental figure in the world of Spanish-language music, a celebrated singer, songwriter, and poet whose work has defined a generation. For over four decades, his distinctive raspy voice and profoundly literary lyrics have captivated audiences, blending rock, folk, and blues into a sound that is uniquely his own. Often described as a master of the sung story, Sabina has built a legacy on songs that explore love, heartbreak, and societal commentary with a raw, unflinching honesty and a touch of bohemian romance. His influence is immeasurable, cementing his status as a living legend in Spain and across Latin America.

Born in Úbeda, Spain, Joaquín Ramón Martínez Sabina began writing poetry at the age of 14, soon channelling his literary talents into music. After a period of exile in London during the 1970s, he returned to Spain and launched his recording career. His breakthrough came with the 1980 album Malas Compañías, which featured the iconic track "Pongamos que hablo de Madrid." Throughout the 1980s and 90s, Sabina released a string of critically acclaimed and commercially successful albums that became essential chapters in the history of Spanish pop and rock. Records like Hotel, Dulce Hotel, Física y Química, and the monumental 19 días y 500 noches sold millions of copies and produced anthems that are now woven into the cultural fabric.
