About Jim Gaffigan
Fans of Gaffigan will already know about his early life growing up in a huge family in Indiana. Jim's dad came from a humble background, paid his own way through college and became a banker. He encouraged his kids to find secure jobs, but when Jim was just five, he announced he was going into showbiz by telling his family "I want to be an actress." In the end, Jim did get a finance degree, but he soon quit the family business to follow his dream of doing stand-up comedy in New York.
Although Jim Gaffigan likes to talk about being lazy, he has been one of the hardest-working comedians on the circuit for the last 25 years. After years of playing the live circuit for years and getting nowhere, he finally achieved every 90s New York comic's dream when he was asked to be a guest on David Letterman's show. His first appearance was a huge breakout hit, earning him several invitations back to the show and eventually landing him his first Comedy Central special. Beyond The Pale was a smash hit both on TV and as a live album and cemented his reputation as both "The King of Clean" and that guy who loves to talk about food.
Jim Gaffigan comedy specials
Gaffigan produced numerous live specials after Beyond The Pale. The 2012 show Mr. Universe became the biggest comedy album of that year, winning a Grammy in the process. Mr. Universe contains Gaffigan's signature routine, the infamous Hot Pockets bit (Hot Pockets being a savoury American version of Pop Tarts). After that, there was really only one place left for Jim to go: TV. Having already had small parts in The Ellen Show, That 70s Show and Flight Of The Conchords, it was time for Jim to take the lead role, and The Jim Gaffigan Show in summer 2015.
Gaffigan is famous for being a clean comic, which is pretty rare these days, so feel free to bring the kids, your granny and even the local vicar along for a hilarious night of brilliant observations. He likes to talk to the audience, but he's not cruel, so don't be scared to sit up in the front. This is a warm, friendly, entertaining and utterly unforgettable night out for everyone to enjoy.
