Jake Bugg: superstar announces huge UK acoustic tour in 2018 with gigs in London, Glasgow, Manchester and more
Since the release of his first single "Lightning Bolt" in 2012 aged 18, Jake Bugg has experienced a whirlwind musical rise that few so young can claim to match. Blending elements of the La's, White Stripes, Hendrix and the Beatles, Bugg has already written four top 10 UK albums (including his self-titled number one); won multiple awards and supported the likes of Lana del Rey and Example.
Still only 23, Bugg is already regarded as one of the most entertaining live acts in the business, and after again thrilling crowds with a brilliant set of classics and new material during festivals across the UK this summer, Jake Bugg has announced a list of brand new tour dates for early-2018.
Bugg will support his fourth album Hearts That Strain with 16 acoustic shows around the UK and Ireland throughout February and March, including Manchester, London and Glasgow. He'll also stop at: Dublin, Belfast, Carlisle, Isle of Man, Bristol, Nottingham, Leeds, Margate, Warwick, Oxford, Southampton, Exeter and Brighton – meaning fans up and down the country (and both sides of the Irish Sea) will have a chance to see Jake Bugg live. Jake Bugg: prolific musician's meteoric rise to indie superstar
Inspired by the likes of Don McLean, Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix, Jake Bugg first picked up a guitar at the age of 12, and left school four years later to pursue his dream of becoming a professional musician. Chosen to appear on the BBC Introducing stage at the 2011 Glastonbury Festival, the teenage singer caught the attention of Mercury Records, who soon offered him a deal. Single "Country Song" dominated radio playlists across the UK upon its release and preceded the troubadour's self-titled album shooting to the top of the album charts. A collection of rip-roaring guitar riffs and '60s inspired folk melodies, the LP was heralded as an authentic and insightful debut from such a young musician. It went on to be nominated for the 2013 Mercury Prize and spawned hit singles including "Lightning Bolt" and "Two Fingers".
Working with acclaimed producers Rick Rubin and Iain Archer, the star returned to the studio to create the career-crucial sophomore effort. Shangri La was released late 2013 and met with the same positive reception as his first record; hitting the charts at number three and putting the singer in the running for British Breakthrough Act BRIT Award. Third album On My One (2016), was something of a departure from previous efforts: incorporating hip-hop and dance influences into his classic indie rock sound. Single "Gimme The Love" was full of a raucous energy, punctuated by the Nottingham singer's distinctive vocals, while the title track describes the loneliness that can be felt at the top.
New single "How Soon the Dawn" was played on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show in August, before Jake Bugg's fourth studio album Hearts That Strain was released in September. Be sure to pick up Jake Bugg tickets at StubHub to catch the new material live in 2018.
