Enter the multi-faceted modern piano world Havasi
Havasi (often known by his full name, Balázs Havasi) is a very interesting Hungarian pianist who has composed music in a variety of genres. However, he's mainly known for his modern "light music" symphonies (think Elton John, not Andrew Lloyd Webber) and his studio and live work with a range of interesting artists from around the world. His music can be lively and up-tempo, even a touch grandiose if called for, or it can be wistful and contemplative, and this is also reflected in the artists with whom he has worked. So here's another fascinating performer for you to discover by buying or selling Havasi tickets on StubHub.
Haunting chamber ballads and slo-core pop
Havasi was one of those – the ones who can play a classical piece with flawless precision at the age of four, and who are then asked to teach music to seasoned professionals when they're barely out of their teens. He's not quite Mozart, but his talent has always been astonishingly prodigious. He studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, where he began performing on stages across Europe, winning medals and prizes with regularity. Once he was satisfied that he had studied enough, and honed his craft sufficiently for the career he had in mind, he accepted one of the many recording contracts he was being offered, and embarked on his career with classical music giant, EMI. He released a total of four solo albums in this guise as a solo pianist, and then decided that he needed more spice in his musical life. He formed the band The Unbending Trees, a strange outfit that played what is known as slowcore pop, which, in this case, was made up of haunting ballads of chamber music. His music reached the ears of producer Ben Watt, himself a purveyor of sparse pop in the '90s as one half of Everything But The Girl. They released two albums of fine music, some of which he has continued to include in his live set. Get Havasi tickets and discover this master of the poignant piano ballad.
Collaborating with mainstream pop artists
Havasi then entered the world of symphony music when he formed the Havasi Symphonic Production, which has since released recordings that have garnered more than ten platinum awards since 2008. The production has worked with many dozens of classical artists and musicians of all stripes, resulting in an eclectic catalogue of fine modern symphonic music. He then turned to writing and playing music with other solo artists, and has lent his hands to a wide range of artists, no longer confining himself to classical genres. He has worked with much revered singers like Lisa Gerrard of Australian dream-goth stalwarts of the 1980s turned world music artists for the new millennium, Dead Can Dance, and with more mainstream artists like Leona Lewis, as well as Karl Jenkins.
