Gloryhammer Tickets

With musicians who come from Scotland and Switzerland, Gloryhammer is a symphonic power metal band that has five members, each with an alter ego that they bring to their energetic performances. Angus McFife, the so-called Crown Prince of Dundee, who is also said to be the heir to the Kingdom of Fife, is the band's frontman, a role taken by Thomas Winkler. Originally from Zollifoken, near to Bern, Winkler previously played with Swiss bands T-Rage and Emerald, both heavy metal outfits.

Winkler was recruited to play with Gloryhammer by Zargothrax, the Dark Sorcerer of Auchtermuchty, who is better known as Christopher Bowes, the keyboard player. Bowes, a musician who is also the lead vocalist in Alestorm, is the central figure in Gloryhammer. In that group, he is noted for his use of the keytar. The German edition of the rock metal music magazine Metal Hammer named Gloryhammer as the best up-and-coming band in hard rock music in 2017.

Gloryhammer and the Galactic Empire of Fife

According to the band's self-invented mythology, a millennium has gone by since the brave hero McFife laid the evil sorcery of Zargothrax to rest after the so-called battle of Dunfermline. However, a cult of unholy chaos wizards has been detected putting together a scheme to release the dark master from his icy tomb. The band's symphonic style represents the struggle to prevent the sorcerer Zargothrax' re-entry into the universe. Their epic style of dress, musicianship and sheer stage presence evokes what their back-story calls 'the tragic destiny of the Galactic Empire of Fife'. Essentially, a gig that is performed by Gloryhammer is part show, part opera and part heavy metal gig.

Gloryhammer's other members

Along with Winkler and Bowes, Paul Templing is in charge of the band's 'Dark Matter String Manipulation Interface', which, in their world, means playing the guitar as the character Ser Proletius. James Cartwright is entrusted with the group's 'Trans-Dimensional Subsonic Cluster'. In other words, he is a bassist otherwise known as Hootsman. BenTurk – AKA Ralathor – is the drummer or 'Percussive Phi-Quason Battery' operator.

Gloryhammer's recorded work

As well as Gloryhammer's much-vaunted theatrical live shows, they have recorded an album. Entitled Space 1992: Rise of the Chaos Wizards, this LP features 10 tracks, including “Legend of the Astral Hammer”, “Questlords of Inverness, Ride to the Galactic Fortress!” and “Goblin King of the Darkstorm Galaxy”. It was released on Napalm Records in 2015.
