Pulling in the numbers: sport at its best!
Not only was the Canadian Grand Prix the highest viewed Formula One GP across the globe in the 2005 calendar, it was also the one of the most popular sporting events of the year, coming third in numbers to the Superbowl and the European Cup Final. The race has been in the Formula One World Championship from 1967, where it took place between circuits in Ontario and Quebec until 1971. After safety concerns with both tracks, the Grand Prix was eventually moved to Notre Dame Island, Montreal, as of 1978. The first winner here was local Quebec native Gilles Villeneuve, who was sadly killed four years later at the Belgian Grand Prix. In memory, the Montreal circuit changed its name to Circuit Gilles Villeneuve just a few weeks after his death. The race would become the stage for many more F1 memories over the years, as well as a feasting ground for the likes of Michael Schumacher, who won seven Grand Prix victories there, and Lewis Hamilton, close behind with six as of 2018 (he's also won the British Grand Prix five times as of 2018). Can he equal the mighty German, or will someone else beat him over the finish line? Only time will tell, but you could be there, with F1 Canada tickets available to buy and sell via StubHub now!
Watch out for the wall of champions
A sport that never ceases to amaze in more ways than one, Formula One is no stranger to almighty crashes, and the Canadian Grand Prix has certainly had us on the edge of our seats over the years. The final corner of Circuit Gilles Villeneuve has become notorious for its crashes concerning former world champions. Indeed, Schumacher, Damon Hill and Jaques Villeneuve, son of Gilles, all crashed into the final corner's wall, which is ironically known as the wall of champions, in the same race. Nico Rosberg, Jensen Button and Sebastian Vettel have also fallen victim to the wall, with the slogan 'Welcome to Quebec' nonchalantly written on it. With a tension and history like no other on the calendar, F1 Canada tickets are a sure-fire way to experience everything high-speed motor racing has to offer, and now they're available to buy and sell via StubHub, it's super quick and easy to get on board!
